What is a little love note?

Little love notes are the every day version of a love letter. Love letters are written to share thoughts and feelings with a special someone. But you don’t have time to write a long love letter every day. That’s where the little love note comes in! It’s a quick, handwritten message to let your spouse know that you’re thinking of them or that they are special. Anything to show your love! This is one of our favorite ways to connect because it’s so simple but packs a huge punch.

Why are little love notes important?

Can’t you just tell your spouse that you love them before they leave for work? Or send them a quick text? Of course! But taking a couple extra minutes out of your day to write a quick note will make your spouse feel extra special.

What materials do you need?

You need: (1) something to write with and (2) something to write on. It’s a simple as that. Josh one time wrote me a note on the paper towel he packed in my lunch. It was my napkin, but he didn’t have paper on hand. Josh wanted to bring a smile to my face so he wrote “I love you” on my paper towel instead. Needless to say, it brought a huge smile to my face. (And I may have bragged to my co-workers about how sweet he was!)

What do you write on a little love note?

The short answer: anything you want! But a nice “I love you” is always good. I like to add a bit extra though. Let’s say I know Josh has a particularly tough day at work ahead of him. I let him know that I’ll be thinking of him extra that day. Or maybe you want to surprise your spouse when they get home. You can leave a note on their bedside table saying something to the effect of: “You were so missed today! I thought about you a lot.” Bottom line, get personal. You know what your spouse will love.

The point is, keep it simple but also don’t be afraid to get creative!

  1. I absolutely love the idea of connecting with your spouse through little love notes. I love to pack a note in my husband’s luggage, under his pillow sometimes at night, by the coffee pot in the morning! Everyone enjoys getting a quick little note that they are loved!
